<p class="bodytext">A large number of trees in the reserve forest at Banavara were destroyed in a wildfire on Thursday.</p>.<p class="bodytext">According to the Forest Department officials, the accidental fire started at Aalada Mara village in the Banavara reserve forest range and later spread to other areas. The breeze contributed to the fast spreading of the fire. As only a few forest guards were present when the fire was initially noticed, the fire could not be doused. By the time the fire brigade from Somwarpet arrived, the fire had spread far and wide. Inaccessibility to go inside forest too was another problem.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The fire personnel have, however, now succeeded in dousing the fire.</p>.<p class="bodytext">DFO Manjunath, ACF M S Chinnappa and RFO Lakshmikanth visited the spot.</p>
