Mild tremors in Kundapur, Karkala

The tremor was experienced in areas including Hebri, Shankarnarayana, Siddapura, Madamakki and Ajakaru police station limits at 11.58 am.

Sources from Karkala and Kundapur Taluk Offices informed Deccan Herald that the land shook only for two seconds and the effect lasted for about five seconds. People, in panic, rushed out of their houses. Some rushed to the schools to bring their kids home.

Vessels fall down
However, with the tremors being brief and mild, the situation returned to normalcy. Except for a few incidents of vessels rolling down in kitch- ens and tiles falling down, no severe damage or casualties were reported,  sources said.
