<p>Disclosing this to reporters, Housing Minister Katta Subramanya Naidu said three types of houses –– Bhagya, Sampada and Yashas –– have been planned for the benefit of poor. <br />It is a self-financing scheme and house construction will be taken up on demand. Priority will be given to BPL families and those who do not own a house, he added.<br /><br />Under the Bhagya scheme, 325 sqft house with single bedroom, Sampada on 375 sqft with a bedroom and a study room and Yashas on a 450 sqft area with two bedrooms will be provided. The cost of each unit will range from Rs 3.65 lakh to Rs 4.90 lakh, Naidu said.<br />It is proposed to take up construction of one lakh houses under this project. These will be flats with ground plus two floors.<br /><br />Besides, the Government has set a target of distributing 1.5 lakh houses to the poor this financial year under Basava Indira Housing Scheme. <br /><br />All deputy commissioners of the districts have been directed to send the list of beneficiaries by July 25 and the scheme will be launched on August 1, the Minister said.<br /><br />The Government has taken up these schemes to free the State from hutment dwellers in the next three years.<br /><br />Chief Minister Yeddyurappa, on Wednesday convened a meeting of officials to review the construction of houses in flood-hit areas. <br /><br />The Chief Minister reportedly told officials that the construction activities should be completed before the rainy season sets in.<br /><br />The Rajiv Gandhi Housing Corporation, the Land Army and Karnataka Housing Board are among the government agencies which had been constructing houses. <br /><br />Yeddyurappa has also told officials to get in touch with donors who pledged support for constructing houses, as work has not progressed as assured. <br /></p>
