Lokayukta orders probe into destruction of trees

District Youth Congress Secretary Srikanth and Taluk Youth Congress President Hanchikolalu Dinesh had complained to Lokayukta in April informing that misapprospriations worth crores of rupees has taken place in Hirekere dredging project. They had informed that over 56 valuable trees have been destroyed because the silt from Hirekere has been dumped at Kesavinakere stranding the flowing water. The SP’s order for probe comes in the brackdrop of this complaint.

Though the order was issued on May 13, instructing the report must be submitted within 15 days, the Forest Department has not acted as per the direction.
