Speaking at the KDP review meeting held under the presidentship of District-in-Charge Minister Krishna Palemar here on Monday, he said the survey work is being carried out by the Stoop Consultants, Bangalore.

The officials of the Karnataka Urban Water Supply and Drainage Board said that the survey work is being carried out in three batches, which will be completed soon.

The survey will help the district administration  to find out the extent of land which will be submerged for the new vented dam.

Palemar and the Deputy Commissioner directed the officials to involve the locals while conducting the survey, so that no problems will arise while paying the compensation for the loss of land.

MLA Ramanath Rai alleged that under Natural Calamity Fund, majority of the share had been taken away by the District-in-Charge Minister’s constituency. Deputy Commissioner said that guidelines are followed while releasing the fund.

The fund can not be equally distributed among the constituencies. The funds are distributed on priority basis.

Borewells

Under Task Force, 172 borewells have been dug in the district to ease the drinking water problem in the district.

However, in many case only borewells have been dug and no pumps have been installed and electricity connection have been given for the borewells in the district.

Minister Palemar directed Zilla Panchayat CEO Shivashankar to prepare a plan for the installing pumps at the earliest.  Zilla Panchayat President Santhosh Kumar Bhandary said that 6 acre gomal land has been identified in Panjikal village.

However he said that the forest department has been claiming that the land belongs to forest department.  Palemar directed Deputy Conservator of Forest to visit the spot and verify the issue.
