<p>First up was Drones from the Turbine, a group which plays psychedelic and alternative rock. They entertained the small but lively gathering for about 45 minutes with their own compositions.<br /><br />Anand, the vocalist, songwriter and guitarist from the group, says that they hope to release their CD in a couple of months. “Our group was formed by a spontaneous coming together of good friends. Pranav, the bass player and I had been jamming for quite a while and then Jaydev and Nithin joined us. Aditya and Ashish too became a part of the group and added their synergy and flavour to our music. Together, we give our audience what we like to call an ‘audio-visual psychedelic experience’,” he explains.<br /><br />Among the songs they played were Lucid Dreaming, Boom Shankar, Chaos Cherry and Sex in the Sky. The next band to take the stage was Lounge Piranha an alternative/post-rock band from Bangalore. They already have a large community of fans and regular listeners who follow their music. The band played an interesting mix of alternative, punk, grunge and post grunge rock.<br /><br />“I personally think they are the coolest Indian alternative rock band I have seen. They also have a distinctive and very trippy sound and are very adept at fusing different genres of rock. My personal favourite head-banging track is Gun Song by Kamal Singh. I also really like their track Ebb, which has a beautiful sound with a flowing rhythm. It’s a song you can sing along with,” says Shankar Patil, a big fan of the group.<br />DHNS</p>
