India plays fifth seeded Canada on Friday for a spot in the semi-finals. Canada demolished Mexico in the quarters on Thursday.

Mahesh Mangaonkar, playing for the resting Ramit Tandon, gave India the perfect start with a convincing 3-0 victory over Tomas de Paauw in the first singles. Aditya Jagtap was made to work hard once again, this time against Rick Penders, the Dutch No. 1, before coming through 3-2 to clinch the tie for India.

Jagtap was leading in all the games, but Penders fought hard and did not give any easy points as he won the first and fourth games. In the dead rubber, Ravi Dixit was too strong for Tim van der Pluijm, winning the best-of-three tie 2-0.
