<p>Bharath Kumar (20) son of Krishna of Hosakamanakoppal was killed, when the tractor he was travelling in, was brushed aside by a vehicle carrying Hassan’s Superintendent of Police K V Sharath Chandra near RMP Quarters around 10 am. Bharath Kumar who was travelling along with Vijaykumar, a student of Government High School in Yelwal was sitting behind the driver’s seat. He was thrown out of the tractor after the mishap, only to suffer grievous injuries resulting in his death. While tractor’s driver Antony, Vijaykumar, driver of SP’s vehicle Kumaraswamy and gunman Prakash suffered injuries. Sharath Chandra escaped unhurt. Among them, Vijaykumar suffered a fracture on his right leg. The incident had occurred when the SP was coming to Mysore to attend the meeting of police personnel convened by DG and IG Dr Ajai Kumar Singh in the city.<br /><br />As soon as Bharath Kumar’s body was brought to the mishap site after autopsy, parents of the deceased accompanied by relatives and well-wishers in large numbers, kept the body on the middle of the road, as a mark of protest. In no time, they were joined by Mohan Kumar Gowda and his men of Karnataka Kavalu Pade, Working President, Youth JD(S) City unit, Prakash and several others. Majority among them squatted on the road, demanding for the arrival of Deputy Commissioner Harsh Gupta. They also placed a demand for suitable compensation, accusing rash driving on the part of SP’s driver thus leading to the mishap. A few local leaders who intervened, brokered peace by buying time as it was not a time for argument. Following rasta roko, busy traffic alongside the road was stranded from 3 pm.<br />Additional SP P Venkataswamy, Mysore south PSI Jagadish and other police personnel visited the spot.</p>
