During his visit here which comes close on his recent state-visit to India, the Myanmar military leader would hold talks with China's top leaders including President Hu Jintao and Prime Minister Wen Jiabao.

Later he would visit the World Expo in Shanghai and the famous Shenzhen city, which is celebrating the establishment of China's first Special Economic Zone (SEZ) 30 years ago.
"China and Myanmar are friendly neighbours and this year marks the 60th anniversary of the bilateral ties. We would like to take this visit as an opportunity to further our traditional friendship and make new contributions to regional peace and stability," Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Jiang Yu told a media briefing here.

She declined to answer any questions relating to allegations of human rights violations and struggle for democracy in Myanmar, saying China follows principle of "non- interference" in internal affairs of other countries.

On the elections scheduled to be held there in November, the spokeswoman said it is important to proceed towards democracy.

"As neighbour China hopes Myanmar brings all parties on board while maintaining peace and stability," she said, adding that the international community should provide constructive help in this regard.

China and Myanmar has close defence ties and Beijing has obtained several key contracts for major infrastructure projects including ports and airports, besides access to most of oil, gas and minerals there.

The two countries signed a deal to construct gas pipeline to connect to China's Kunming city, which would provide access to Beijing to tap into Myanmar's gas resources.
