It’s always a pleasure to work at a clutter-free desk. Not only does it give you enough space to think, it also inspires to work.
Clearing up a cluttered desk can be quite a task. But a keen eye and good planning helps clear clutter faster.
Most of the employees in offices in the City are provided with cubicles. Although the cubicles are small, it is really a tough job managing job files and other important things amidst the clutter. So what do you do to make your space open and a pleasure to work at?
The first thing you need to get is a pen stand with an attached business card holder or a photo frame. This keeps small objects out of the main space. Such pen stands are available at most gift and stationary shops, priced anywhere between Rs 150 and Rs 300.
Papers and files are always a major part of desk clutter. Managing and placing these files appropriately can be simplified if you get the next clutter cutter — A ‘post-it’ note pad. You can mark and place the files accordingly by colour coding them based on their importance. Also having a desk pad and a diary/organiser could simplify your task.
With the small stationary and the folders cleared out, the main part of the desk remains clean. Add to it a sleek vase, calender and desk top clock and this would make your desk presentable.
CDs and floppies come next in line. They could be stored in CD pouches available at reasonable prices at all stationary outlets like Gangarams, Landmark, Strand and Sapna Book House.
1. Sort your files by colour coding them, based on their priority.
2. A diary with contact numbers of important people comes in handy.
3. Keep food and beverages away from the work desk.
4. Organise your mails for the day.
5. Discard files and folders that you are done with.
