The demand figured among other issues debated during its first divisional executive committee meeting held at Yeshwantpur railway station in which Divisional Railway Manager of Bangalore Alok Agrawal took part.
SWRMU General Secretary K V Raghavendra called for the filling up of the posts instantly. Appointment to these posts were deferred following demands by Kannada organisations that only locals should be absorbed for these posts.
“An elected government is in place in the State now and they must take efforts to coordinate with the Railway Board and ensure the posts are filled up,” he said. Over 1,500 people from different branches of the Union took part in the meet, held near Platform six.
