Condemning the violence in Orissa, Archbishop of Bangalore Bernard Moras said, “The Church has been working for the uplift of the poor and the downtrodden. Are the Christians being punished for this ?” The Catholic Bishops' Conference of India has announced that all the Catholic institutions will remain closed on Friday as a mark of protest against the recent killing in Orissa. More than 25,000 schools and colleges across the country will remain closed.
Karnataka Chraista Ranga, in a press release, condemned the act of violence in Orissa and has appealed to the state government that no opportunity should be given for any such untoward incident to occur in the state. The KCR has appealed that the peace and harmony in the state should be maintained. The Popular Front of India, in a press release condemned the act of what it called, Hindutva communal outfits for attacking minorities in the Orissa.
