Woman killed

A pregnant woman was killed in a road accident on Tuesday night. The deceased has been identified as Shobha (25), a resident of Sanjaynagar.

The accident occurred on Ramanamaharshi Road down the Mekhri Circle. Shobha and her husband Nagaraj were returning home on their bike. Shobha fell down and sustained injuries after a speeding car knocked down the bike.

The car driver sped away with the car. Nagaraj rushed Shobha to M S Ramaiah Hospital. However, she died on Wednesday morning as she failed to respond to the treatment, said the police.

Five held for robbery

Jalahalli police arrested five persons on charges of robbery and recovered two autorickshaws and six mobile phones worth Rs 35,000 on Wednesday.

The accused are all auto drivers involved in robbery cases. They are - Vishwa (21), Papanni (21), Santosh Kumar (22), Srinivas (21), and Mohan (21).

According to the police, Papanni and Vishwa stopped their auto after noticing passenger Munawar, waiting for an auto on Tuesday night at Jalahalli.

When Munawar got inside the auto, the duo stopped near Kuvempu Circle and threatened Munawar at knifepoint. The other three auto drivers, who were waiting at Kuvempu Circle also joined the duo. The accused robbed Munawar of his valuables worth Rs 20,400 and absconded, after throwing him out of the auto.

Fortunately, night patrol police who witnessed the incident, followed the accused and managed to catch Vishwa and Papanni. Based on their information, the police caught the other accused on Wednesday.

Fake apparel seized

Enforcers of Intellectual Property Rights (EIPR) and HAL police raided Brands & Bargains Pvt Limited on 2nd main 'A", 6th Cross, Doddanekkundi, Krishnareddy Layout, Marathalli on Tuesday and seized counterfeit apparel of Pepe jeans worth Rs 31 lakh.

The recovered garments included 1,560 Pepe jeans, 1,015 Pepe shirts, 14 Pepe jackets, 1,200 MRP stickers, 2,200 Pepe ribbons, 30 leather tags, 40 plain tags, 360 metal buttons and 100 metal badges.

The police have registered a case against Alex, the manager, Y R Wilson Maria Das, the managing director and A M Komala, the director.

Theft in IAF quarters

Miscreants dared to sneak into a restricted area in the Indian Air Force quarters, broke open the main door and made way with valuables worth around Rs 1.5 lakh on Tuesday noon.

According to complainant Jayaram, the couple left home for work in the morning and when they returned late evening, they were shocked to see that some miscreants had forcibly entered the house and decamped with the valuables.
