Presiding over an officials’ meeting to chalk out an action plan for the projects worth Rs one crore under the compensation programme for rain affected areas at taluk office here on Wednesday.
When the PWD officials made the demand that the department required additional funds under rain compensation, Mr Bopaiah got angry and said: “I know in what way you are functioning at present. If you are willing you can work; or else go to some other place with a transfer. Don’t give any justifications.”
“What steps have you taken for the Kootiyala bridge? Have youth ever discussed the matter with the DFO? You cannot do any works. If you can’t, bring the same to my notice. Roads are being spoiled because of your negligence. Funds cannot be provided to fill potholes or repair culverts under the rain compensation,” he reacted.
Mr Bopaiah also asked the officials to repair about 6 km road in the city limits at the earliest in the backdrop of the approaching Gowri-Ganesha festival.
Town Panchayat member Katti Poonacha said some parts of the Ayyappa hill in the city have slid duing the previous monsoons for which proper compensation had not been distributed so far. The MLA sought details of the expenditure of Rs 2.30 crore amount released to the TP last year.
“Rs 2.30 crore has been entirely spent during the administrator’s period. Rs 20 lakh has been spent for the repair of the taluk maidan,” the member alleged,
Mr Bopaiah asked the TP engineer to submit a report on the projects carried out so far. He also asked the ZP engineer to chalk out action plans to get Rs 2 lakh each to all 36 panchayats under rain compensation.
