The students of the First Grade College here blocked roads on Wednesday after a police sub inspector allegedly assaulted a student.
Hundreds of students held up traffic on the Kolar-KGF main road for an hour. Vehicular movement was affected. Later, they demonstrated before the taluk office.
A KSRTC bus conductor’s alleged misbehaviour with a student who had wished to get off near the college sparked off the incident.
Heated argument
Following a heated arguement between the conductor and the students, the bus stopped near a police station and the conductor complained to the sub-inspector.
During an exchange of words the sub-inspector allegedly slapped a student. The students then blocked the road demanding the sub-inspector’s suspension.
Police and KSRTC officials visited the spot and promised action against the bus conductor and the driver.
Investigation
The KSRTC officials, Kolar Gold Fields Zone Deputy Superintendent of Police Kudachi who arrived to the spot assured investigation into the matter. Circle Inspector Shivakumar, Ashok Kumar, Sub Inspector Mohan and others were also present. The KSRTC officials assured strict action against the Bus conductor and the driver.
Akhila Bharatha Vidhyarthi Parishat leader Manjunath, NSUI leader Raghavendra, Puneet, Shailaja, Suresh, Chandru, Nandeesh, Rajeshwari, Sudharani, Vijaykumar and others led the protest.
