Bangladeshi boy born with two heads

A baby boy born with two heads in southwestern Bangladesh has been placed under police protection because of the curiosity his birth has caused among locals, reports AFP from Dhaka. The boy, named Kiron, was born by Cesarean section on Monday weighing 5.5 kilogrammes in Keshobpur, 135 kilometres from Dhaka, gynaecologist Mohamad Abdul Bari said on Wednesday. The baby’s life was not in immediate danger but he and his mother, 22, had been moved to a larger hospital in nearby Jessore city because large crowds had gathered at the clinic, he said.

China chemical plant blast toll rises to 18

The death toll in the Tuesday’s chemical factory blast in south China’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region on Wednesday rose to 18 with rescuers finding two more bodies from the debris, reports PTI from Beijing. Two of the dead have yet to be identified. The other 16 have been identified as plant workers, according to the rescue headquarters.

The known fatalities account for 18 of the 20 people listed as missing by the plant owner. Fire-fighters are still searching for others who might be missing.

Michael Bolton, Sheridan break-off again

Time failed to tender soft rock ballad expert Michael Bolton’s love-life as his longtime on-again, off-again affair with Desperate Housewife actress Nicollette Sheridan ended with the pair calling off their engagement, reports PTI from Silicon Valley. “Nicollette Sheridan and Michael Bolton have amicably ended their engagement,” Sheridan’s representative Nicole Perna was quoted as saying by the People magazine on Tuesday.

Shilpa to marry Raj in another 18 months

Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty, who became an international celeb following her success in the reality show Big Brother, has revealed that she plans to marry her year-long boyfriend Raj Kundra in another year and a half, reports PTI from London.

Asked to comment on her relationship and whether marriage is on the cards, Shilpa told The LondonNews: “His name is Raj Kundra. We met a year ago. For the next 18 months, I’ve got my hands full with work, so I can’t really think of marriage yet but, after that, I definitely want it to culminate in marriage. And, of course, I’m dying to have a family, at least two children.”

Diana’s wedding cake to go under the hammer

Almost 27 years after her marriage with Prince Charles, a slice of Princess Diana’s wedding cake goes under the hammer and is expected to fetch up to 20,000 pounds, reports PTI from London. The Princess of Wales gave the cake, along with a letter signed by Diana and a bottle of beer, to Moyra Smith in 1981 when she worked as a cleaner for the Queen Mother. The slice has remained in the loft of Smith’s London home ever since. She died last month, aged 78, and it was her dying wish for it to be sold.
