Super talented Abir

Abir Abrar is a name that is destined to be famous and being listed among the most coveted actors. The 22-year-old girl was seen in the role of Akbar's sister in Ashutosh Gowarikar’s magnum opus Jodhaa Akbar. For someone who shares the screen space with superstars in the epic drama, the journey has been one of triumphs and tribulations.

She has also had an active career on the stage and learnt the fine nuances of acting. She was the Juliet in Romeo and Juliet, a play directed by Atul Tiwari for Nadira Babbar's production. Sone ki Machli is another play she acted in. She also played the lead part of Razaia Sajjad Zaheer in Roshnai ka Safar, under the able of director Nadira Babbar. She was also part of the play Pencil Se Brush Tak, based on the life of artist M F Hussain, again directed by Nadira Babbar. She has been actively associated with the theatre company Ek Jute.

Her resume also boasts of a power-packed performance in the television documentary Reflections in a Mirror (2006). She played the central character in this experimental documentary film. Acting is synonymous to life for her, and about her experience she says, "The journey so far has been as rich as it would have got. Learning is a constant exercise for an actor. It's like healthy diet for an artist. But I have been fortunate enough to bag some good and challenging roles both on the stage and on screen, which have given me the opportunity to showcase my talents properly."

She has taken acting lessons from Kishore Namit Kapoor and Daisy Irani and has also attended a theatre workshop at Ek Jute. She is also well-versed in Kathak and Hindustani classical music. She has all that goes into making a star and the world is responding to her in sync, as she continues climbing the staircase to success.
