Naseeruddin Shah's comment on housewives working more than 'mard' under social media's radar
One segment of the show has sparked considerable debate on gender roles within households. The sarcasm behind ‘mard ho, thak kaise gye’ (you’re a man, why are you tired) seems to have missed the pole, with people also pointing out to ‘insensitivity’ towards men that Shah’s statement elicits.
"Mard ho to thak kyun Gaye" where is his sensitivity. One thing people need to understand is portraying human emotions on screen doesn't necessarily mean the person actually understands and cares about it or feels it too, a portrayal is far from reality.
Asking a "film institute" actor or filmmaker their opinion on masala movies is the Indian version of asking Scorsese his opinion on Marvel movies. The only difference is Scorsese is no hypocrite and makes valid points. Also, a lot of women enjoy films like KGF, Kantara, or RRR.
Just because you fight for men's rights, you don't need to criticize everyone just for the sake of it. What Naseeruddin Shah has said holds true. It's not his problem if you don't understand his words or haven't watched this episode.
A film that women like will always be a successful film because women like sensitivity. The overdose of hypermasculine male characters in the film industry is a common tactic for guaranteed commercial success. We are not over this, are we? https://t.co/msQLBuVc3Mpic.twitter.com/sieaaLvF1l
