<p>Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday arrested two persons and recovered around one kilogram of heroin from their possession during a raid at a local hotel in Srinagar.</p>.<p>Sources said the Counter Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) wing of the J&K Police raided a hotel in city centre Lal Chowk and recovered 998 grams of heroin from the possession of two persons.</p>.<p>The arrested persons were identified as Zameer Ahmed Mongryal and Sajad Ahmed, both residents of border town Uri in Baramulla.</p>.<p>Drug menace in Kashmir has increased manifold compared to the previous years, which was evident from the seizure of a huge quantity of narcotic substances and the number of arrests of drug peddlers in recent years.</p>.<p>Last year, the J&K Police had recovered 36.08 kilograms of pure heroin and 49.7 kilograms of brown sugar from different parts of the Valley.</p>
