The Congress on Monday scoffed at the BJP's attempts to build a political narrative on the Ram temple at Ayodhya claiming that the saffron party always raked up the issue ahead of elections.
.
“Kaikeyi and Manthara had sent Ram to exile for 14 years, but the BJP has exiled Ram for the past 30 years. They worship Lord Ram only when elections are around the corner,” Congress spokesperson Abhishek Manu Singhvi said.
.
He was responding to questions on the demand for building a Ram temple and the objection raised by the RSS and a section of the BJP leaders on the delay on the hearing of the Ayodhya in the Supreme Court.
.
“After 1992, in every election, the BJP and RSS raise the issue of Ram temple. Once the polls get over, they again send Lord Ram to exile,” Singhvi said.
.
Former home minister P Chidambaram hit out at the BJP over the Ram temple issue and the unveiling of the statue of Sardar Patel in Gujarat.
.
“At the beginning of five years, the promise is for Development, Jobs and Money in every citizen’s bank account. Nothing achieved, at the end of five years, the new promise is for grand Temples, giant Statues and Doles,” Chidambaram tweeted.
.
Singhvi also hit back at Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad for criticising Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge for reportedly drawing similarities between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and German dictator Adolf Hitler.
.
“I humbly ask the law minister, why should he be surprised at this name. The book by Guru Golwalkar, which you consider your Bible, wants his followers to behave like Hitler. I thought Hitler was your hero,” Singhvi said.
