<p class="title">Eight people, including three officials of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), have been booked by the CBI on charges of diverting Rs 5 crore company funds to some contractors through fraudulent means between January and August.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The accused have been identified as Senior Manager (Finance) Bhaben Maitra, Assistant (Finance) Abinash Sarkar and Finance Department employee Subhashree Das, all employed in HAL Engine Division in Odisha's Koraput.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The others named included Jayaram Garada, Bipra Charana Maharana, Jisudan Khosla and Urdhab Khola besides "unknown officials". The FIR came following a complaint by HAL Manager (Vigilance) Uday Kumar Raut.</p>.<p class="bodytext">According to the complaint filed by Raut, during a half-yearly internal audit carried out on October 6, showed that certain payments against vouchers were made without any supporting documents like bills, work orders or invoices.</p>.<p class="bodytext">It came to light that Maitra was accused of approving some of these vouchers from January to August this year without seeking the requisite bills and work orders.</p>
