Monsoon Mayhem Highlights: 31 dead, 1,300 roads closed in Himachal amid rain fury

Parts of north India, including Delhi, continued to bear the brunt of incessant rainfall. Mandi in Himachal Pradesh faced a flood-like situation as river Beas swelled up due to incessant rains. Water levels of the Hathnikund Barrage in Yamunanagar (Haryana) rose, damaging houses nearby. Himachal logs 226% excess rain in July

Himachal Pradesh received 249.6 mm average rainfall from July 1 to July 11 against a normal rainfall of 76.6 mm, an excess of 226 per cent, said the weather department.

Kinnaur district received 500 per cent excess rains, followed by Solan 426 per cent, Sirmaur 367 per cent, Shimla 360 per cent, Bilaspur 325 per cent, and Kullu 283 per cent.

Lahaul and Spiti received 233 per cent, Chamba 220 per cent, Una 218 per cent, Hamirpur 171 per cent, Mandi 130 per cent, and Kangra 75 per cent, said the weather office. (PTI)

Delhi BJP sets up relief camps for those living on Yamuna flood plains

The Delhi BJP has set up eight relief camps for people living on the Yamuna flood plains, who on Tuesday moved to safer places due to the rising level of water in the river due to two-day record rain in the city.

The party has set up a camp each in Yamuna Bazar, Sabhapur, Ghonda Third Pushta, Gandhi Nagar Loha Pul, Mayur Vihar Extension, and Yamuna Khadar, said a Delhi BJP statement. (PTI)

SAD chief Sukhbir Singh Badal visits flood-hit areas in Punjab

Shiromani Akali Dal chief Sukhbir Singh Badal on Tuesday visited Punjab's flood-hit areas of Banga, Balachaur and Anandpur Sahib and demanded that the AAP government announce a relief package for all people severely affected by the deluge.

Badal, who visited the affected areas on a tractor, asked party workers to redouble their efforts in assisting those in need of food and medical aid. (PTI)
