<p class="title">An anganwadi centre at Abhyathmangala Paisari in Valnooru Tyagathooru Gram Panchayat jurisdiction in Kushalnagar is crying for attention. </p>.<p class="bodytext">The cracked walls and leaking roof has been plaguing the centre for the last few years. In spite of bringing the issue to the notice of the authorities, no action has been taken to take up maintenance of the building, alleged residents. </p>.<p class="bodytext">The Women and Child Development Department had started the anganwadi centre for the benefit of the children of labourers 14 years ago. Later, the department did not take up any measures to repair the building, said resident Kolambe Vinukumar. </p>.<p class="bodytext">There are 17 children in the age group of three to six years attending the anganwadi centre daily. </p>.<p class="bodytext">“The asbestos sheet of the building slides in the gusty wind. The neighbours are called in to repair the asbestos sheet of the building. After the meals, children are made to sleep outside the building,” alleged parents. </p>.<p class="bodytext">The anganwadi centre does not have any store room. As a result, all the daily articles are stored in the room where children sit. </p>.<p class="bodytext">Valnooru Tyagathooru ZP constituency member Sunitha Manjunath said, “Majority of the schools and anganwadi buildings were repaired with grants released under rain damage. However, there is no information on the repair of this centre. I will bring the issue to the notice of the officials.” </p>
