<p>In a bid to encourage farmers and give a boost to agricultural activities, Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy will be planting paddy in five acres of land on the outskirts of Sitapur in Pandavapura taluk, Mandya district, on August 11.</p>.<p class="bodytext">For the last two years, paddy cultivation in the district had taken a hit owing to non-availability of water. The Agriculture department too had asked the farmers not to cultivate paddy, which is a water-intensive crop. This year, however, agricultural activities have heightened, owing to good rains in the entire Cauvery catchment area.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Kumaraswamy will be spending three hours with the farmers during the sowing activity.</p>
