<p class="title">The Centre will send a high-level official team to Karnataka to study the drought situation, Revenue Minister R V Deshpande said here on Tuesday.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Deshpande, who met Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh here, told reporters that he had requested the minister to send a high-level team to the state to study the drought situation and the latter agreed to it.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Due to the failure of the North East monsoon,<br />a total of 156 taluks had been declared drought-hit and<br />the Centre should grant Rs 2,064.30 crore under the<br />calamity relief fund, the minister said.</p>.<p class="bodytext">He said due to the failure of rain,<br />agriculture and horticulture crops worth <br />Rs 11,384 crore had been lost. </p>
