<p class="bodytext">Any misuse of Nanoscience would be the end of the world, warned Prof Karanam Uma Maheshwar Rao, NITK Surathkal director, on Thursday.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Prof Rao spoke after inaugurating the two-day international conference on nanotechnology (opportunities and challenges), organised in association with the University of Namur, Belgium, at L F Rasquinha Hall of St Aloysius College.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The field of nanotechnology offers immense scope for improvement. The benefits should be carefully exploited, said the director.</p>.<p class="bodytext">St Aloysius Educational Institutions rector Fr Dionysius Vaz presided over the programme.</p>.<p class="bodytext">College principal Fr Praveen Martis released the book of abstracts. Prof Zineb Mekhalif, director of Laboratory of Chemistry and Electrochemistry of Surfaces (CES), University of Namur, delivered the keynote address.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Richard Gonsalves, LCRI Block director, welcomed the gathering, seminar convenor Ronald Nazareth introduced the chief guest.</p>
