<p>Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister C N Ashwath Narayan on Saturday requested Defence Minister Rajnath Singh to hand over 750 acres of defence land in Belagavi to set up a software technology park.</p>.<p>The DCM, who holds the IT and BT portfolio, met Singh here explained the need for land.</p>.<p>He said if the Defence Ministry provides the land, the state plans to set up an IT park to house both software and hardware companies there.</p>.<p>Since the said land is close to NH-8 in Belagavi, it is ideal for a software park, the DCM is reported to have told Singh.</p>.<p>With Belagavi being an education hub, it would be good to set up such a park there, said a statement.</p>
