<p class="title">The state government has reduced the ratio of candidates to be selected to Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) Mains (exams) through a Cabinet decision on Thursday.</p>.<p class="bodytext">According to the decision, the government has decided to cut down the ratio of candidates selected to the main examination from preliminary examination from 1:20 to 1:15. This decision has been taken as per the recommendation of the Hota Committee, Law Minister J C Madhuswamy said.</p>.<p class="bodytext">This apart, the government has also decided to upgrade the post of KPSC chairman to the grade of Chief Information Commissioner. Until now, the KPSC chief's post was at a lower scale and the government has decided to rectify it, the minister said.</p>.<p class="bodytext">However, even though the Hota committee recommends a search committee for appointment of KPSC members, the government has not approved the same, retaining its power in the selection of members.</p>
