The government has opened registrations for paddy purchase, he said.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Speaking during the KDP meeting at Old Fort Hall in Madikeri on Tuesday, he asked the food department deputy director to purchase the paddy grown during the monsoon season at the minimum support price.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The deputy director said that the registration of the names of farmers has started in APMC, KFCSC, APCMS in Kushalnagar and APCMS in Gonikoppa.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The paddy will be purchased from December 16 onwards at a support price of Rs 1,250.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Zilla Panchayat Social Justice Standing Committee chairman C K Bopanna said that the government has not issued proper guidelines towards the purchase of paddy.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Education and Health Standing Committee chairman Kiran Cariappa pointed out that there is no mention regarding the purchase of the red variety of paddy in government guidelines.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Harish said that the taluk panchayat executive officers should take up necessary measures to achieve progress in housing projects in the district. The progress of housing schemes in the district is at a disappointing rate, he added.</p>.<p class="bodytext">ZP Agriculture and Industries Standing Committee chairperson Sarojamma urged for the provision of power supply to tribal hamlets under Sowbhagya Scheme.</p>
