<p class="title">SDPI Kodagu district unit president Aboobakar said the party has extended complete support to the Tipu Jayanti programme being organised by the district administration.</p>.<p class="bodytext">He told media persons on Thursday that the SDPI opposes the bandh call given by Tipu Jayanti Virodhi Samiti. The Sangh Parivar has been trying to disturb peace in the district. The people should not pay heed to the bandh call, he urged.</p>.<p class="bodytext">He also dared Congress and JD(S) leaders in the district to clarify their stand on Tipu Jayanti celebrations.</p>.<p class="bodytext">SDPI state committee member Amin Mohisin said that the history recognises Tipu Sultan as a freedom fighter. BJP leaders Yeddyurappa, R Ashok and Jagadish Shetter had taken part in previous Tipu Jayanti celebrations.
