<p class="title">Deputy Commissioner Charulata Somal directed the traffic department to take scientific measures for speed control, instead of the normal road humps at junctions, in the vicinity of schools, colleges and hospitals and other crowded areas in the main roads and state highways in the district.</p>.<p class="bodytext">She was presiding over the district road safety committee meeting, held at the DC's office, on Wednesday.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Charulata Somal told the officials concerned to form sub-committees comprising the regional transport authorities and to furnish a report on the implementation of the notifications regarding the parking areas and no parking areas in Madikeri, Virajpet and Kushalnagar towns and the parking areas earmarked for buses and autorickshaws in these towns.</p>.<p class="bodytext">"The speed-breakers were removed during the visit of President Ram Nath Kovind to the district recently," she said and told the City Municipal Council to reinstall the speed-breakers.</p>.<p class="bodytext">She also said that complaints are being received about the lack of basic facilities in the new private bus stand.</p>.<p class="bodytext">"Cleanliness should be maintained in the bus stand," she said.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Chartulata Somal also directed the department concerned to furnish a report regarding the repair of Mandalpatti Road. She told the officials to initiate action on the lack of maintenance at the parking area in Dubare.</p>.<p class="bodytext">"Zebra crossing should be painted at Field Marshal Cariappa Circle. Speed-breakers should be installed near the circle," she added.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Superintendent of Police Kshama Mishra issued directions to the officials to set right the black spots in Boyikeri and Cauvery Nisargadhama.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Regional Transport Officer Vinaya, CMC Commissioner S V Ramdas, Assistant Commissioner Eshwar Kumar, DySP Dinesh Kumar, KSRTC Madikeri unit manager Geetha and DDPI P S Machado were present at the meeting, among others.</p>
