<p>Individual development and societal growth should go hand in hand for the all-round progress of the country, said Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil.</p>.<p class="bodytext">He was speaking after inaugurating the scholarship distribution programme organised by Kudroli Sri Gokarnanatha Temple at the temple premises in Mangaluru on Sunday.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The Deputy Commissioner further said, “We can bring a positive change in society by considering the problems of the society as our own. Nobody should think that others’ problems are not related to us. More organisations should join hands with the district administration towards a better future.”</p>.<p class="bodytext">Lauding the efforts of Kudroli Sri Gokarnanatha Temple, Sasikanth Senthil said that the temple committee has been helping out the people who need medical aid and the students from financially less privileged families, by providing the required assistance.</p>.<p class="bodytext">‘Vidya Nidhi’, the educational assistance, ‘Arogya Nidhi’, the medical assistance and ‘Samajika Nidhi’, the social assistance was distributed. An amount of Rs 15 lakh is reserved for educational assistance, Vidyanidhi, while Rs 5 lakh each was utilised for medical and social assistance.</p>.<p class="bodytext">A total of 554 students from PU, degree and post graduation courses were provided with the scholarships. </p>.<p class="bodytext">Endosulfan victims Abhishek and Tulasi were among the beneficiaries. Endosulfan victims Abhishek who scored 77% and Tulasi who scored 66% in SSLC examinations, fourth rank holder in PU examinations Shashank, sports achiever Sakshi Kundapura were felicitated. CET Nodal Officer Sajith Kumar was also honoured. </p>.<p class="bodytext">MLC Harish Kumar, Temple committee chairman H S Sairam, Temple committee trustee Urmila Ramesh and treasurer Padmaraj were present among others.</p>
