KCR’s village Chintamadaka remembers son of the soil

Telangana Rashtra Samithi chief K Chandrasekhar Rao has his roots here. From this village located 15 kilometres from district headquarters Siddipet, the lanky teenager used to ride his bicycle to Dubbaka to attend school and in later years to Siddipet to attend college to study his favourite subject Telugu literature.

The village that falls under the Siddipet Assembly segment is represented by his nephew T Harish Rao, the state irrigation minister. KCR has fielded Harish from Siddipet for one more time. While KCR gave away his house for the bank and some land to school, the Kalvakuntla family has nothing left here as they sold away most of the property and moved to Siddipet and then to Hyderabad.

Thanks to KCR the Chintamadaka village has 40 feet wide roads and all the 52 families that lost their
dwellings on the roadside were given two bed room houses at the entrance of the village.

“He was my junior in the Dubbaka school. That time owning a bicycle was considered a privilege ,” Gandla Ramulu, said remembering his child hood friend. KCR, s childhood friends refute allegations that KCR’s family migrated from Vizianagaram district of Coastal Andhra Pradesh. “We know that his great grandfathers lived here and even saw KCR tilling land here,” Chakali Veerraiah another friend of KCR said.

“Whenever KCR comes here he makes a point to say hello, but nowadays his visits become shorter and shorter,” Kusa Ramaiah said. The villagers say that they try to visit him at his official residence, Pragathi Bhavan in Hyderabad whenever some development work is to be taken by in the village.

“We have shifted to these new homes last week, they are big and comfortable,” Kuruma Lakshmi a beneficiary told DH. There is electricity, bore water and above all lot of space for the family. Kanakamma Mudiraj, another beneficiary of the KCR’s pet project of two-bed room houses says that the whole village is on one word that they would bring the son of the soil back again.

While the victory of Harish Rao is a cake walk in Siddipet, the new entrant Telangana Jana Samithi is expected to get the Siddipet seat under the Grand Alliance of Congress-TDP-CPI and TJS pact. Harish Rao who has already made an impact on the psych of the voters in the constituency through Mission Kakatiya and his irrigation projects like Kaleswaram might not be able to spend more time for the constituency with the additional responsibility of his uncle KCR’ s constituency Gajwel, where he is campaigning now.
