<p>As Jammu and Kashmir holds the Khelo India National Winter Games in the famous ski-resort Gulmarg, Prime Minister Narendra Modi Friday said that the state is touching new heights in peace and development</p>.<p>Addressing at the inaugural function of the 5-day long Khelo India National Winter Games, via video conferencing, the Prime Minister said that every Indian is keenly looking at the grand festival. “This festival sends a message across the country — One India, strong India,” he said.</p>.<p>The event is being held in north Kashmir’s ski-resort in which hundreds of participants, including international players, are participating.</p>.<p>Modi said that the participation of national and international players in the event Gulmarg will raise the morale and self-confidence of every participant.</p>.<p>The Prime Minister added that Khelo India Centres will be set up in Jammu and Srinagar, following which such centres will be established in all districts of India.</p>.<p>Modi said that sports activities were picking up again after the deadly Covid-19 pandemic slowed down.</p>.<p>“Sport is not just a hobby but you learn team spirit and you learn to build self-confidence,” the PM said.</p>.<p>“There are many small countries in the world that are earning fame by excelling in various fields of sports.”</p>.<p>On the occasion Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports, Kiren Rijiju said, “We will ensure that Kashmiri youth’s participation in Olympic games so that Kashmiri boys too get Olympic medals and make the country proud.”</p>.<p>He said that the Center has also approved water sports for Dal Lake in Srinagar in the coming summer. “Water sports have a great potential in Srinagar and Kashmir,” the minister added.</p>
