<p>With the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic raging across India, the British government has decided to deny entry to any citizen of the South Asian nation unless she or he has residency rights in the United Kingdom.</p>.<p>The UK has put India on its “travel ban red list” with effect from Friday. The British government took the decision shortly after UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson dropped his plan to fly to New Delhi for a summit with his counterpart Narendra Modi.</p>.<p>“If you are a British or Irish national in India, or an Indian national with residency rights in the UK, you will now be required to undergo 10 full days managed hotel quarantine on arrival in England at your expense,” the British High Commission in New Delhi posted on Twitter.</p>.<p><strong>Read | <a href="https://www.deccanherald.com/international/uk-pm-boris-johnson-cancels-trip-to-india-due-to-coronavirus-worries-976101.html" target="_blank">UK PM Boris Johnson cancels trip to India due to coronavirus worries</a></strong></p>.<p>“If you are an Indian national without residency rights in the UK then we regret that you will not be permitted to enter England if you have departed from or transited through India in the previous 10 days,” the British High Commission added.</p>.<p>It noted that no ban on flights between India and the UK was currently in force. But all travellers from India and the UK should contact the airlines.</p>
