West Bengal Assembly Elections highlights: Campaigning for second phase of polls ends

Campaigning for the second phase of elections ended on Tuesday as both TMC and BJP attacked each other over poliical violence that has erupted in the wake of polls. Meanwhile, after a huge controversy over Mamata's conversation with BJP leader, the TMC leader did admit that she called the leader claiming that she has every right to do so. Shah and Banerjee campaigned head-to-head in Nandigram today. As the battle for the state intensifies, the focus has been shifted to Nandigram as Mamata will take on her former ally Suvendu Adhikari. The fate of Mamata and Suvendu will be decided on April 1 when Nandigram goes to vote. Stay tuned to DH for more updates.

Had indeed called up BJP leader, have every right to do so: Mamata

Two days after a huge controversy erupted over an audio clip in which Mamata Banerjee was purportedly heard cajoling a BJP leader from Nandigram to help her win the seat, the chief minister Tuesday said that she had indeed called up Pralay Pal as she had got a feedback that he wants to talk to her.

Speaking at an election meeting at Tengua in Nandigram just before the time for campaigning for the second phase of assembly poll came to an end, Banerjee said as a candidate she has every right to call up a voter.

People of village in Nandigram seat hounded out by BJP goons; EC should take note: Mamata

West Bengal Chief Minister and candidate of Nandigram, Mamata Banerjee, on Tuesday alleged that people were hounded out of Balarampur village in her constituency by BJP goons and urged Election Commission to take note of it.

The BJP has brought goons from other states to terrorise local people, she claimed.
