West Bengal Assembly Elections Highlights: PM Modi to address rally in West Bengal's Kharagpur
PM Modi is set to address a rally in Kharagpur over the weekend. Meanwhile, after Suvendhu Adhikari's father publicly backed BJP saying he will attend Modi's rallies, BJP's Dilip Ghosh has not supported his wish to join the party. The state chief said he could offer support from outside. Earlier, Bhupender Yadav claimed Mamata Banerjee is running a misinformation campaign against BJP. BJP released the list of 148 candidates for the West Bengal Assembly elections, fielding several Trinamool Congress (TMC) turncoats including national vice-president Mukul Roy, another MP and several celebrities. Votes will be counted on May 2.

EC's partisanship, bias coming in way of free and fair election in West Bengal, alleges TMC
The Trinamool Congress on Friday alleged that the “partisan and biased approach” taken by the Election Commission was coming in the way of conducting “free, fair and transparent” Assembly polls in West Bengal.
25 per cent candidates contesting Bengal polls phase-1 declared criminal cases against themselves: ADR
Forty-eight of the 191 candidates contesting the first phase of assembly elections in West Bengal on March 27 or a little over 25 per cent have declared criminal cases against themselves, according to a report by poll rights group Association for Democratic Reforms.
On the education details of candidates, ADR said 96 (50 per cent) candidates have declared their educational qualifications to be between class 5 and 12 while 92 (48 per cent) candidates have declared to be graduates or above. Three candidates are diploma holders.
