West Bengal Assembly Elections Highlights: BJP invites Suvendu's brother Dibyendu Adhikari to join party; yet to decide he says

PM Narendra Modi addressed a public rally in Purulia today. Reports show that TMC and BJP workers clashed in Nandigram where Suvendu Adhikari was campaigning. Meanwhile, Sisir Adhikari, the TMC leader and father of Suvendu Adhikari, a TMC turncoat now with the BJP, has said that he will join the saffron party if he is asked. Elections to the 294-member assembly will be held in eight phases starting March 27. Meanwhile, BJP, TMC workers clashed in Nandigram. BJP named Mukul Roy and Rahul Sinha in the latest candidate list for the last two phases of assembly polls. Votes will be counted on May 2.

BJP leader Rajib Banerjee declares net worth of Rs 58 lakh

BJP leader Rajib Banerjee, who is contesting the West Bengal assembly election from the Domjur constituency, has declared that his net worth is Rs 58,02,006.

Banerjee, who quit the Trinamool Congress to join the BJP in January, mentioned in an affidavit to the Election Commission of India that his movable and immovable assets are worth Rs 18,37,006 and Rs 39,65,000.

The battle for Bengal Assembly has never been more heated up than now. On the one side, BJP's top brass are promising a 'Sonar Bangla,' leaving no stone unturned in their campaigns to win the state. Meanwhile, Didi, on her wheelchair, has indeed brought the game on. As parties exchange jibes and fiercely fight to win the crown, the TMC has to fight the anti-incumbency sentiment as well as the BJP, one whose power seems to only grow as it paints one state after the other saffron.

Mamata asks "Marxist friends" not to vote for CPI(M), Congress

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee campaigning in tribal Paschim Medinipur district on Thursday for the coming state election asked "Marxist friends" not to vote for either the CPI-M or Congress, who are "cohorts of the communal BJP".

She asked people not to give a single vote to those "who have links with the killers of Gandhiji."
