EC to take call on reports on Mamata incident on Sunday

The Election Commission will take a call on Sunday on the reports submitted by theWestBengalchief secretary and two special poll observers on the injuries sustained by Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress leader Mamata Banerjee, sources said.

Banerjee fell down and sustained injuries on her left leg and waist after she was allegedly pushed by unidentified people while she was campaigning in the Nandigram assembly segment on Wednesday evening after filing her nomination from the constituency.

BJP's central election committee meets to finalise candidates for assembly polls

The BJP's central election committee held its meeting on Saturday to finalise its remaining candidates for the Assam and West Bengal assembly polls, with top party leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, attending it.

This is the second CEC meeting over the assembly polls in four states, that also include Tamil Nadu and Kerala, besides the Union Territory of Puducherry.

ECI finds Bengal govt report on Mamata 'attack' sketchy, asks chief secy to elaborate

The Election Commission of India (ECI) has found the report submitted by the West Bengal government on the alleged attack on Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in Nandigram on March 10 as "sketchy" and asked Chief Secretary Alapan Bandyopadhyay to elaborate it, a poll official said on Saturday.

The chief secretary has been asked to furnish details like how the incident took place and who could be behind it by Saturday, he said.

Samyukta Kisan Morcha urges Bengal farmers not to vote for BJP

he Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM), an umbrella body of over 40 farmers' unions, on Friday urged agriculturists and other people of West Bengal not to vote for the BJP in the upcoming elections.

The SKM said that electoral defeat will force the BJP-led government at the Centre to repeal the three farm laws.
