West Bengal Assembly Elections Highlights: Three TMC Councillors from Asansol and Bidhannagar Mayor-in-council Debasish Jana joins BJP
Bengali actor Sayantika Banerjee joined Trinamool Congress, ahead of Assembly elections in West Bengal. The Congress and the ISF managed to break the ice between them over seat-sharing for the upcoming Assembly elections in West Bengal but talks are still underway for some constituencies. The final list is scheduled to be announced on March 7 and 8. Three TMC Councillors from Asansol and Bidhannagar Mayor-in-council Debasish Jana joined BJP on Wednesday. Elections to the 294-member assembly will be held in eight phases from March 27 to April 29.
The seat-sharing talks between the Congress and the Indian Secular Front (ISF) finally made some headway with the grand old party agreeing to leave seven seats to the political greenhorn. Congress sources said that that if the ISF agrees to the offer then the seat-sharing issue will be resolved.
West Bengal polls: CPI(M) to focus on young candidates
In a bid to bring up the second generation of leaders in West Bengal and arrest its steady decline in the state, theCPI(M) leadership has decided to field several young candidates in the upcoming Assembly elections.

According to a report by Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) and West Bengal Election Watch, out of 282 sitting MLAs analysed, 97(34%) are crorepatis.
