She is a Bong babe settled in Mumbai. A political science graduate, Payal Ghosh has modelled for some big brands. The call of the celluloid proved to be too strong and so, here she is, making her debut opposite Mithun Thejaswi in Varshadhare.

“This is not my first film. I have acted opposite Manchu Manoj, actor Mohan Babu’s son in Telugu film Prayanam, one of the five best films last year,” declares Payal. Varshadhare happens to be her second release.
What comes out as an afterthought is her role in Sharpe’s Peril, the television series for ITV, based on the novels of Bernard Cornwell.  The drama series follows the adventures of Richard Sharpe and was also released in the DVD format in the UK in 2008.
Payal, like countless girls before her, also has big plans for her career. She wants to make a mark in Bollywood and has given herself time till the end of 2010 to polish her acting skills. Right now, she is shooting a Telugu and Tamil films opposite newcomers.
She feels South Indian directors are very talented and disciplined whose approach to work will also help her later.

Having acted in Telugu and Kannada and now in Tamil, Payal had this observation
to make: “Kannada industry has to upgrade. They are catching up with the other
industries but they must also take care to provide proper facilities to actors from outside, particularly women.” “However, the team I worked with — the director, my co-stars, technicians-all are very good and hard-working. It was like we were all a family out there.”

Payal finds Madikeri a healthy place to be as she found its natural beauty
and pollution-free atmosphere conducive for a healthy living. Looking forward to the
release of Varshadhare, Payal buys her time before trying her luck in Bollywood.
“I have a strong role in this film. In fact, the story revolves around me. This role
offers lot of scope for performance,” she promises before signing off.
