Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Thursday became emotional during his election campaign and sought support for his son Dr Yathindra in Varuna Assembly segment here.
Siddaramaiah said, “After the death of his elder son Rakesh, Dr Yathindra joined me to serve the constituency. So, the people of Varuna should bless him.”
Siddaramaiah, who on Wednesday, toured the villages under Chamundeshwari Assembly from where he is contesting, campaigned in villages of Varuna also. Along with Dr Yathindra, he took out roadshows at Mellahalli, Hunugunahalli, Madegowdanahundi, Rangasamudra and Hittuvalli among others.
Siddaramaiah, who was elected from Varuna in 2013, said, “With your (Varuna voters) blessings, I could serve as the chief minister and could develop the constituency. Though I am not contesting from the constituency, I will work for the comprehensive development of the people here. Chamundeshwari and Varuna are like my two eyes.”
Siddaramaiah warned the people to be aware of those contesting from outside the constituency. “Congress party will come to power and I will be the chief minister again,” he said. MP R Dhruvanarayan, minister H C Mahadevappa, Sunil Bose and Congress district president B J Vijay Kumar were present.
