In view of the rising number of dengue cases in the city and spike in demand for blood platelets, Delhi Police have launched a campaign on blood donation DAAN (Donation and Awareness for Needy).

On Wednesday, a camp was organised at Delhi Police Headquarters in collaboration with Indian Red Cross Society. Over 200 police personnel donated blood.

“This is yet another effort by us to contribute meaningfully when Delhi is in the midst of the worst dengue outbreak in last two decades. Through this programme, we wish to reiterate our motto – With You, For You Always,” said Delhi Police Commissioner Bhim Sain Bassi.
Police have also prepared a list of about 300 police personnel who will provide their blood on need basis in any part of the capital.

Their contact numbers have been provided to Indian Red Cross Society.

“DAAN or donation is an intrinsic Indian value and even as we have lived and breathed it, we thought it was time to demonstrate it as well,” Bassi added.
