Former US secretary of state Hillary Clinton, who reached Jodhpur on Tuesday, was advised rest after she sprained her hand.

Hillary, who is staying at the Umaid Bhawan Palace of Jodhpur, was attended by a team of Jodhpur-based orthopaedists.

Anand Goyal, owner of the Goyal Hospital in Jodhpur, confirmed, "We received a phone call from Umaid Bhawan Palace and we were requested to send a team of doctors and hot bandage to the hotel after Hillary complained of pain in her hand." The three doctors included one physician and one orthopaedic surgeon.

After being advised rest, Hillary also dropped her plan to visit the historic Mehrangarh fort on Tuesday evening. "We were informed by the hotel staff that Hillary will not be visiting the fort. She was supposed to visit the fort after 6.15 pm which was later cancelled," a staffer at Mehrangarh Museum told DH.

Hillary, who reached Jodhpur on Tuesday afternoon, is on a three-day visit to Rajasthan. She arrived in Jodhpur at 2.30 pm from Pali in a chartered flight. She is accompanied by her personal staff.

On Wednesday, she is scheduled to visit Salavas village to witness rug weaving. She will stay at Mihirgarh, a boutique hotel situated on the Jodhpur-Pali highway.

Hillary who loves Rajasthan never misses to visit Jodhpur. During her last visit to the state in 2014, she was seen draped in colourful bhandej dupattas amidst rural women.
