Switch to a thicker moisturiser: It is crucial to switch to a thicker moisturiser due to the changes in environmental conditions. One has to compensate for the dry weather and a good moisturiser helps your skin retain the water loss. Credit: Getty Images
Lip balm is your best friend: Just as you need a thicker moisturiser for your skin, you need a soft moisturiser for your lips. Colder months tend to make your lips crack and bleed. Also, the skin of your lips is the most delicate, even more than the skin surrounding your eyes. As a result, it needs maximum protection. What’s better, start using a lip balm or moisturiser that contains SPF to offer sun protection. Credit: Getty Images
Use eye serum and face creams: Add an under-eye serum and face creams to your daily routine during the cooler months depending upon your skin type. Skin does not like immediate transition, so start using more hydrating formulas before winter arrives. Avoid over-exfoliating: Reduce your usage of exfoliants, including retinoids and salicylic acids as the post-monsoon season arrives. The dry cold winds already make your skin feel irritated, and you do not want to increase the skin irritation by exfoliating your skin too much. Credit: Getty Images
Do not skip sunscreen: No matter the weather, sun protection is a must. The harmful UV rays are present in both cold and hot months. So make sure to apply a suitable SPF sunscreen throughout the day. Credit: Getty Images
Keep your skin hydrated: Along with using a hydrating moisturiser, keep your body hydrated by drinking plenty of fluids. You do not feel as thirsty as you do in the summer months. But not drinking enough water may dehydrate your body, which further affects your skin. Consider improving your diet and adding more liquids. Vitamin C is a must: Vitamin C is an excellent antioxidant and also helps reverse sun damage. It promotes skin brightening and boosts collagen production. Along with using vitamin C topically, consider adding it to your diet by consuming more citrus fruits. Credit: Getty Images
