Cong MLA Priya Krishna is worth Rs 1,020 crore

Priya Krishna, 34-year-old Govindarajanagar Congress MLA, is one of the richest candidates contesting the Legislative Assembly election. He is seeking re-election from the constituency.

On Saturday, he filed his nomination papers and declared assets worth Rs 1,020.53 crore. At the age of 29 when he contested the Assembly election for the first time, he had declared assets worth Rs 910.98 crore. In the last five years, his assets have increased by Rs 109.55 crore.

Besides being one of the richest candidates in the fray, Priya Krishna also has highest liabilities - Rs 802.74 crore - as declared by him. Priya Krishna, accompanied his father and Housing Minister M Krishnappa and hundreds of his supporters, held a roadshow. As his followers burst crackers. As a result, traffic in the locality was severely affected leaving motorists stranded in the scorching son.

He has declared that he has Rs 1.76 lakh in cash. He owns 18 vehicles, including Bemi Dozer, Mantego and Benz GL. He has 1,406 gram gold worth Rs 39.08 lakh, a Xerox machine worth Rs 53,484 and a website worth Rs 80,301. He has declared business assets worth Rs 808.93 crore. His non-agricultural land is worth Rs 160.10 crore. He has stated that he has no tax dues.

In 2013, Priya Krishna had Rs 12.91 lakh in cash. He had 16 cars, gold and silver jewels (270 gram) worth Rs 8 lakh. He had movable assets worth Rs 815.37 crore and immovable assets worth Rs 95.61 crore in the form of non-agricultural land. He had also declared liabilities worth Rs 777.7 crore.

According to the affidavit submitted by Priya Krishna, a case of land grabbing has been filed against him and its proceedings were stayed by the high court on March 14, 2018. The case was filed under Section 5 of Karnataka Land Grabbing (Prohibition) Act 2011.

His father Krishnappa on Thursday declared assets worth Rs 236.16 crore.

‘MTB’ Nagaraj, also a Congress candidate seeking re-election from Hoskote, has declared assets worth over Rs 1,000 crore.
