"We have been saying dialogue is absolutely essential to solve all issues that bedevil our relations and we are satisfied with the outcome of the meeting," Foreign Office spokesman Abdul Basit told reporters.

He said Pakistan's campaign against terrorism is the country's "own war" and it would continue "even if India doesn't ask for anything".

Pakistan Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani and his Indian counterpart Manmohan Singh met in Sharm-el-Sheikh today and the two sides "agreed to create an atmosphere of mutual trust and confidence".

Basit said the two sides had agreed to resume dialogue covering all outstanding issues. He also noted that the two Prime Ministers had agreed that Foreign Secretaries of India and Pakistan would meet before their Foreign Ministers held talks on sidelines of the UN General Assembly in September.

He said authorities were "moving professionally and systematically" in the investigation into the Mumbai attacks and trial of suspects arrested by Pakistani security agencies.

There is "no laxity in Pakistan's commitment" and it would continue to do whatever is required, he added.
