Rain continued to lash the Coffee land of Chikkamagaluru on Monday.
With the waterfalls coming alive, a large number of tourists are visiting Sirimane, Kallathigiri, Hebbe waterfalls, Bababudangiri and Mullayanagiri hilly ranges to enjoy the beauty of nature.
Mudigere taluk continues to receive torrential rain for the fourth day. The authorities had declared holidays for schools and colleges on Monday.
Trees uprooted
Several trees were uprooted in coffee estates at Bhairapura, Hoskere, Gowdalli, Mekanagadde.
The vehicular movement on Mekanagadde-Kooruraste at Bakkadi village, Handi-Baskal road was affected after a tree fell on it.
The soil dumped beside the newly constructed bridge on Mudigere-Chikkamagaluru road at Kudregundi has been washed away.
With Guthi, Devaramane, Balooru, Banakal receiving heavy rain, water-level on Hemavathi river has increased drastically. The water from Hemavathi river had inundated Bankenahalli.
The river had entered paddy fields at Uggehalli. The paddy seedlings have been washed away in the flood, at Halekote, Mugrahalli, Horatti, and Sabbenahalli.
Drains overflowing
The overflowing of stormwater drains at Ganganamakki inconvenienced the pedestrians. The continuous rain has affected farm activities and has affected farm labourers.
Thick fog on Charmadi Ghat stretch affected motorists. On the other hand, Kalasa has received 15 inches of rain in the last five days. Bhadra river is up to its brim.
Majority of the people have remained indoors following the rain. The schools had declared a holiday on Monday in Kalasa.
Menase, Kigga, Kerekatte, Addagadde, Halandooru, Kalkatte, Vidyaranyapura, Koothugodu, Thekkuru and other areas in Sringeri experienced heavy rain. The agriculture activities have been intensified in the taluk.
