Representation for women sought

Senior Congress leader Motamma demanded that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah should give adequate representation for women in his Council of ministers.

Addressing reporters here on Saturday, she said women should get equal opportunity in all spheres, including politics, and that they should get 33 per cent reservation in the State Council of ministers.

Motamma, who is a former minister, also said she would have become a minister, had become an MLA. She, however, said the Congress has been a champion of women empowerment. Women have got 50 per cent reservation in elections to the urban local bodies and panchayats in the State due to the Congress.
