In a move to attract students from outside the city, the Delhi University (DU) is likely to launch online courses from the coming academic session. The university sources said that short-term courses, ranging from six months to three years, would be offered initially.
The online course would be available in the subjects of psychology, anthropology and few science disciplines. The university will award certificate and regular degrees for these online courses, said university sources.
DU would offer some of these courses for free. “The move would help the university connect to students from different parts of the country, especially those who can’t afford to live in the city,” a university official said.
This is the first time DU would be providing its courses online. Sources said that the university’s School of Open Learning is busy finalising the lessons and overall course structure. The university hopes to offer courses in other disciplines soon. For these courses, students will be able to apply and submit fee online.
